3: Where To Put Your Hive - Save Yourself Some Pain!

As a beekeeper, it is important to be aware of the local regulations regarding the treatment and reporting of pests, diseases and exotic species. Each country or state may have different rules on the treatment and reporting of certain species, so be sure to find out what you need to look out for. For example, American foulbrood is a notifiable disease in most jurisdictions - this means if it is detected in your hive, you have to report it to the relevant authorities and there are prescribed treatment actions you need to take. We will have more detailed information on pests in upcoming lessons.
